The system delivers items from a receiving station or a stack to a processing station. It comprises a travelling crab with grip (40-43) driven to and fro along a horizontal boom (29), and adjustable for height by moving the boom up and down a vertical column (5). The position of the equipment for the automatic control of the crab is regulated independently of the transmission mechanism acting on the latter. The crab can be controlled by a proximity or limit switch fixed to it, while the automatic control equipment is driven so as to assume a new position along the boom, being cut in and out by contact with the crab.FL.
