The harvester is towed by a tractor and has a chassis made up of a pair of I-section beams. A pulley is mounted at each end of each beam over which the pick-up belts pass. The lower ends of the inclined beams are supported on a pair of shoes. The belts are made of reinforced rubber and pass over an array of guide rollers mounted between the two beams. These rollers push the two inner runs of the belts together so that the feet can be gripped between them.
