Benzopyranopyrimidines, many of which are novel, of the formula I IMAGE in which Ph represents an optionally substituted 1,2-phenylene radical, R represents a lower aliphatic hydrocarbon radical optionally substituted by a Ph1 radical, Ph1 being an optionally substituted phenyl radical, or a C3-1 cycloalkyl radical, a lower alkyl radical substituted by a heteroaromatic radical, or radical of the formula (CH2CH2O)n-CH2CH2OR4 in which n is 0, 1 or 2 and R4 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, each of the symbols R1 and R2 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, R3 represents an optionally substituted phenyl radical Ph1, a lower alkyl radical optionally substituted by Ph1, a C3-7 cycloalkyl radical, a cycloalkyl-Ph1 radical in which cycloalkyl and Ph1 have the meanings given above, or a heteroaromatic radical, and therapeutically acceptable salts of these compounds, have lipid-reducing, anti-arteriosclerotic and analgesic actions.
