A PROCESS FOR BENEFICIATION OF SILICA BEARING CALCAREOUS ROCK PHOSPHATE

A process for the beneficietion of eilica bearing calcareoue rock phosphate ore which comprises grinding the ore to suitable size, preparing a water slurry thereof, treating said slurry with a floatation aid such as a fatty acid salt thereby conditioning the slurry for floatation, thereafter subjecting the so conditioned slurry to a step of bulk fretk floatation thereby separating silica as tailing and material containing non-silica portion, as floated portion,treating the floated non-silica portion with floatation aid selected from inorganic acid thereby conditioning sane for subsequent differential floatation for (separating the carbonates of the ore from the opposite thereafter subjecting the so conditioned material to a step of differential floatation thereby to obtain only concentrate of appatite as tailings while the carbonate com-ponents of the ore are removed in the froth.
