Phosphoric and phosphonic acid derivatives of substituted 4-hydroxyquinolines of the formula IMAGE in which R1 denotes alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, (di)alkylamino or phenyl, R2 and R4 denote alkyl, R3 denotes H, halogen, carbalkoxy, substituted carbonamido or CN, R5 denotes H, halogen, NO2, alkyl, alkoxy or CF3 and X denotes O or S, are effective insecticides and fungicides.
