The mechanism is intended for treating poultry stomachs, partic. those of turkeys. It comprises a section where the intestine is cut off (driven 35 rotary cutting disc 34), a section (23) where each stomach is slitted (cutting blade 38), and a section (29) where the inner stomach is brushed clean (driven 41 brushes). The stomachs are fed between two slightly converging horizontal worm shafts (below 10, driven by 32) towards a longitudinal gp. between two endless chains (driven by 37) around sets of horizontal chain wheels, and the cutter (34) operates as they pass through this gap. They are then taken over by an endless chain (26) around vertical chain wheels (27,28) (driven by 41) to pass between two longitudinal parallel plates (25) and below a longitudinal downwardly inclined cutter blade (38) to be partly slitted prior to passing between two brushes oppositely rotating on parallel horizontal shafts. Used to treat poultry stomachs to prepare them for consumption. The mechanism is capable of handling larger-size stomachs satisfactorily, which is not the case with existing units.
