To obtain the highest sighting accuracy, four linear hydraulic cylinders are used for controlling the elevation and azimuth movement of the sighting mechanism. Two of these cylinders are coupled to a lever arm which sits on the elevation shaft carrying the missile and an optical sighting system. The other two cylinders are fixed beneath the turret dome and control the lateral movement, giving fine adjustment for sighting and target pursuit. The turret dome is on the outside of the carrier vehicle, over a hatch opening, where the sighting equipment protrudes into the vehicle interior. The entire mounting can be turned by releasing two grip locks, one either side of the operator, for coarse sighting. The entire system may be motor driven, and stopped accurately by disc brakes.
