A descaling machine (1) for metallic bars (2), tubes and wire having a rotating hollow shaft (5). Attached to the entry side of the hollow shaft is a cutter head (6) which carries one or more radially adjustable descaling cutters (7, 8). The descaling cutters can be adjusted during the operation of the descaling machine. The adjustment is effected via an electric motor (32). Provided between electric motor and descaling cutters is a gearing (14) which radially adjusts all descaling cutters at the same time, is arranged concentrically to the hollow shaft and encloses the hollow shaft and rotates with the latter. The gearing is preferably designed as an epicyclic differential gearing. The gearing is arranged between or in front of two radial bearings (3, 4) of the hollow shaft (5) and is connected on the one side via a sleeve (48) to a disc (21) for the cutter adjustment and on the other side to the cutter head (6) via the hollow shaft (5).
