The device has two measuring coils (LS1 and LS2) through which the projectile (G) flies. Each measuring coil (LS1 and LS2) is assigned a first isolating capacitor (C3, C4) or in each case a bifilar winding (LT1 and LT2) of an isolating transformer (T) as well as a second isolating capacitor (C1, C2). This symmetrical arrangement reduces the measuring inaccuracies which result from current changes in the current source (Q) and from faults resulting from transmitters and the atmosphere. A differential stage permits faults to be taken into account by means of the discarding sabot which detaches from the projectile.
