The chain driven scraper conveyor for mines has scrapers each with a trapezoidal scraper plate (1) supported across two arms (4,5). These each consist of a plate at right angles to the scraper plate. A tube (2) is mounted across the contact edge of the scraper plate, also carried by the two arms. Each arm has a hole (7) through its base (6) for a hinge pin forming an axis about which the scraper swings as it passes around the chain sprockets at the return end. Each arm incorporates a curved portion (13) acting as a cam surface when travelling over a deflector plate at the return end to ensure that it swings back into alignment after passing around the return end. This cam portion has a convex curve (21) forming a rolling surface in contact with the deflector plate.
