Appts. involving irradiation via a trapezoidal horn of a continuous profile travelling a multi-loop path around a pair of parallel rolls has the horn mounted obliquely relative to the loop path. The angular deflection of the horn is adjustable (automatically) so that the projected width of the horn corresponds to the cumulative width of the parallel loops of the running profile travelling side by side. Pref. the width of the individual and collective loops of a particular running profile can be matched by the setting of a multitoothed guide supported by a multiple scissors-action mechanism. Adjustment of the pitch of the scissors elements pref. alsu automatically trims the angle of inclination of the horn to match the overall loop profile path. Applicable to e.g. hoses of crosslinkable rubber or plastics materials. Use of multiple loops extends the effective exposure time for a profile to minimise the size of the irradiation zone.
