SEAGOING SEPARABLE TUG AND BARGE CONSTRUCTION

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREAn integrated and separable tug and barge unit of theCatamaran type is provided which constitutes a materialimprovement in operational efficiency and economy over theseparable tug and barge assembly forming the basis of UnitedStates Letters Patent No. 3,698,349 granted on October 17,1972 to John N. Stevens. The tug and barge assembly of thepresent invention is characterized by providing a materiallyimproved hull design for the twin hulls of the tug unit, bothfore and aft, and material design changes with respect to theinterfitting of the tug unit with the barge unit which willmaterially decrease the open area between the twin hulls of thethe tug unit when the units are in an interfitted relationship.
