SYRINGE DEVICE WITH MEANS FORSELECTIVELY ISOLATING A BLOOD SAMPLEAFTER REMOVAL OF CONTAMINATESAND METHOD OF USING SAMEABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA syringe is disclosed for taking blood sampleswhich includes a tubular body, a plunger, a sealing memberand a needle. The plunger and sealing member in combinationare slideably received in the tubular body with the plungerreceiving the sealing member for rotational movement aboutits longitudinal axis. The sealing member has two longi-tudinally spaced circumferential sealing locations with acylindrical space between the sealing locations. Twocloseable openings through each seal location are establishedin the sealing member at 180° opposition to each otherby a thread extending across each seal. The thread isattached to the plunger so that after blood passes throughthe seal nearest the needle the thread from both seal locationsthereby sealing the blood sample in the tubular body afterall gases have been purged fro the tubular body.
