ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA method and apparatus are disclosed relat-ing to the recovery and reuse of heat during fractiolla-tion of liquids in 2 tray-type fractionating tower,According to this method, a portion of the feed to thetower is directed through heat exchange tubingpositioned on the trays in such a way that the tubingis in contact with liquid there present so as to bringabout an indirect exchange of heat between the saidliquid on the trays and the liquid in the tubing, atthe same time that there is occurring the normal trans-fer of heat by direct contact between the vapor and theliquid on the trays and the normal interchange of materialcomponents by direct contact between vapor and liquidon the trays, the said heat exchange tubing beingserially connected so as to carry liquid from tray to tray.
