Self-supporting structure, or rigid structure, generally hollow, prismatic, rectilinear, with automatic mounting and unfolding, folding and dismounting in all directions. The invention relates to civil engineering : hoisting, clearing obstacles, supporting, handling etc. Poorly cumbersome in the folded position, the structure can be mounted, unfolded and becomes instantaneously self-supporting, starting from panels (23) or links aligned or generally connected in four or two chains, by means of a device feeding, assembling and locking the element walls, guiding and powering, called generator, the powered unfolding resulting automatically in the mounting, the folding and dismounting, the apparatus being actuated manually or mechanically, remote-controlled, the structure being constructible in reversed position, the unfolding axis being orientable in all directions by means of a base-turret, a structure being able to raise other folded structures, generating a composite structural work which may be open or closed, such as a crane, a gantry, a frame etc. Many industrial applications are possible, in particular: towers, pylons, masts, beams, cranes, elevators, lifts, supports, bridges, frames, buildings etc.
