The invention relates to a process for the preparation of aluminum zinc phosphate hydrates or basic aluminum zinc phosphate hydrates, wherein 1 mol of aluminum hydrogen phosphate with 2.4 to 4 mol, in particular 3.15 to 3.5 mol, of zinc oxide, optionally with the addition of alkali aluminate in an amount of up to 0.4 Mol, or the equivalent amount of an alkali metal hydroxide, was implemented, and their use as an anti-corrosion pigment in paints.
