The inorganic acids bound to iron ions in the process or leaching liquors are released in a first process step by means of a liquid cation exchanger with simultaneous extractive removal of the iron ions, then themselves removed from the aqueous phase in a second process step by means of organic extractants forming adducts with them and recovered by decomposing these adducts with water or dilute acids.
