The invention relates to a map, such as a hiking map, bicycle touring map or the like, having a transparent protective cover which surrounds the map in the extended form in a closely fitting manner so that route and path descriptions, also descriptions of sights and the like, which may be printed both on the front and on the rear of the map, are legible. When not in use, the cover can be folded up with the map inserted so that it can be placed in a suit pocket or, for posting, in an envelope. The cover itself also permits the maps to be changed. A plurality of maps and the cover can be arranged in a clearly laid out container from which the map in use and the cover are removed. IMAGE
