In order to supply the electrical power required by the intermediate and terminal devices (6, 8) of a fibre-optic network, use is made of a central source (5) supplying the direct current to the said devices by way of the tensioning fittings (3, 4) for the various stretches (1, 2) of the fibre-optic cable, connected in series with one another.
