Adsorbents for stabilising and clarifying beverages, esp fermented drinks, e.g. beer or beer wort, are prepd. by adding finely divided silicic acid and/or finely divided silicates to starting materials for SiO2 gel or to its hydrosol, and kept homogeneously distributed up to hydrogel solidification. Prod. obtd. is ground after washing out soluble materials, opt. after part or complete drying. Additive concn. in end-prod. is 50 (5-20)%.
