For fixing metal or hinge fittings of metal or other materials to boxes, the fittings are fixed to a guide strip (1) provided with holes (6) to mark the feedin to the machine. The mounting and stop plates (3, 4) attached to either side of the guide strip have tongues (8) and fitting pieces (7), and spikes (5) to effect a fastening. Lock fittings are then fitted on these mounting plates. Other examples of application have pointed ends to the mounting plates. The guide strip may be part of the fitting, for economy in material offset and interlock tongues.
