Core for shuttering for producing room units such as garages comprises a support structure for attachment of shuttering panels which are movable perpendicularly to their surface planes between an operating position for introducing the casting material, with max. core cross-section, and a moulding position with reduced core cross-section. The cross-section of the core may be varied by a heating and cooling system which extends along the shuttering panels and which acts directly on the panels and support structure. A simplified system in comparison with prior art arrangements is obtained.
