Gp. V to VI metals are extd. from solns. and pulps with a selective ion exchanger resin, (A), consisting of a reaction prod. of a polyhydric phenol, esp. pyrocatechol or pyrogallol, with HCHO. (A) has specific surface 50-600 m2/g, pore vol. 0.2-2.3 cc/g and contains =1.1.3 m. equiv./g OH gps. The process can be used in non-ferrous and rare earth metallurgy, waste water purificn., hydro-metallurgical ore treatment and in conditioning processing solns. Yield, selectivity and extn. speed are increased. Metal yields reach 97-99%.
