A beam or support (1) is used as a structural component in a building. It is used esp. in lattice structures, balustrades, fences, supports, chords or elsewhere. The girder consists of an inner profile unit (2) and hollow ceramic blocks (3), inwardly shaped in accordance with this. Connection between the blocks, in the first instance, and blocks incorporating the inner profile, is provided by a medium (10,11) which is waterproof and frost-resistant. The inner profile can be a hollow metal or plastic unit, while the connector is pref. an elastic adhesive.
