The screen includes a chassis plate contg. an open window. On each side of the window is a horizontal pivot bearing for a frame contg. a coloured safety glass. The glass normally covers the window due to the force of tension springs, but its frame can be swivelled by an electric micromotor so the window is completely open. In the housing of the chassis plate is a photoelement triggered by light from the welding arc to move the safety glass over the open window, so no harmful light rays or welding spray can reach the human welder. The chassis plate pref. also contains a microphone receiving sound waves caused by human breathing and automatically closing the window via an electronic circuit. Complete protection for the human face and eyes from harmful radiation and weld spray.
