The indicator system is designed for use by anglers to indicate when a fish has taken the bait. The system is intended to provide a display effective in both day and night conditions. The indicator unit is strapped to the side of the rod rest and is set at a short distance above the ground level. The unit has a cylindrical body and includes a light emitting diode, battery and contact actuator. A cable connects the unit to a weighted plug that is supported on the fishing rod line. When a fish takes the bait, the plug moves to activate the indicator.
