Nonionic surfactant for pigment compsn. for lacquers - comprises reaction prod. of mono:alkanol di:isocyanate and polyethylene glycol

A pigment compsn. contains at least one pigment, at least one organic solvent and 10-90 wt.% nonionic surfactant (I) comprising the reaction prod. of a 6-12C monoalkanol (II), a diisocyanate (III) and a polyethylene glycol (IV) of formula HO-(CH2CH2O)nH (where n is 2-6). (I) has a viscosity (80% in isobutanol, room temp.) of 500-20000 mPas (I) is a homogeneous, (lightly) coloured, up to 150 deg.C thermally stable prod. which reacts only at elevated temps. with the lacquer and so remains in the lacquer. The compsn. is esp. suitable for cationic electrodeposition lacquers, has excellent properties, is easily prepd. and does not effect the properties of the lacquer adversely e.g. corrosion resistance. Sedimentation of the pigment is prevented.
