A process for the final storage of elongate radioactive components of small cross-section by deformation to form a coil, characterised in that during their removal from the reactor pressure container into the space beneath the container, instrumentation probes for a reactor core are wound by a remote-controlled winding machine onto a coil body and, together with said coil body, are accommodated in a screening container ; and that the screening container is then provided with a radiation-proof seal and is transported to an intermediate and/or final store.
