Cracks in structures or workpieces repaired by fibre reinforced resin - placed in grooves formed transversely across cracks

Method of repairing cracked or broken structures and workpieces consists of forming, in the surface zone, a groove oriented transversely to the crack; a synthetic resin contg. a bundle of fibres is then laid in this groove and allowed to harden. The resin may be introduced by impregnating the fibre bundle with it. Or the resin may be introduced after the fibre bundle has been placed in the groove. In a variant of this latter method, an injecting duct for the resin is used to distribute it from the central point. Glass fibres are pref. used. In particular for repairing cracks in buildings caused by heavy traffic or the like, or in metal castings due to shrinkage stresses. The method is extremely simple.
