The solar heating system designed to supply hot water has the supply and return lines (4) to the heat collectors (5) connected by thermostatically operated valves (8) to extension lines to the water tank (2). These two valves are connected to a thermostat (7), located at the heat collectors. The return line to the tank incorporates a circulating pump (3) also connected to the thermostat. The supply line to the heat collectors incorporates an air vent (9) and the two valves also control flow to a common discharge line (6). The circuit operates so that at normal temps. and pressures less than the cold water mains supply (10) to the tank, water is circulated, but the members are controlled to offer protection against freezing by discharging part of the water in the pipes through the discharge tube (6). The water is also prevented from boiling or reaching an excess pressure.
