The screen is for the wound cores of transformers, choke coils etc. It consists of an insulating wall with a conductive coating, interrupted along an axis-parallel line. The screen forms simultaneously a cylindrical coilformer. To provide the required strength prior to coil winding, an inner, thin wall impregnatable insulating tube is wound without gaps with a number of layers of impregnatable insulating paper. The conductive layer is formed as a conductive paper with mutually insulated, overlapping edges with a galvanic connected grid of copper strip. This conductive assembly is wound intermittently into the insulating paper coil The thin wall insulating tube and the wound insulating paper layers form preferably a homogeneous body. A web of insulating paper may be coiled through the conductive layer, i.e passing through the interruption of the conductive layer.
