Grinding disc for a disc refiner is equipped with sets of grinding ribs arranged radially or at an acute angle to the radius; between each set of these ribs there is an intermediate rib of lesser height. Pref. support rings for the grinding and the intermediate ribs at their outer and inner ends are connected to the ribs by electric welding. Pref. the ribs are tack-welded together at their rear faces to form sets before assembly. The support rings may project behind the rear faces of the ribs in an L-section, but the ribs project above the support rings on the front face. The disc is easy to assemble and does not require individual insertion of the ribs. Holes for fixing the dics may be reinforced by a central ring, backing the rear face of the ribs.
