The milling cutter, esp. for long holes, consists of a clamping shaft with a cutter head at one end. The head has circumferential cutting edges, with intermediate swarf removal areas and frontal cutting edges. The cutter head (2) has a guide section (3) with two opposite swarf removal surfaces (4), which are parallel to the longitudinal cutter axis. A web (7) is centrally connected via shoulders (6) to the guide section. The side and end faces of the web carry the cutting edges (10,11). The web is at an angle to the swarf removal surface. The latter peripheral edge length is preferably of the edge length of arcuated guide surface sections (5), at least.
