The intake has an outer cover (1) with an inner section (3) leaving an annular airway between them. A nose cone (2) on the front of the inner section projects forward of the outer cover. The nose cone is pivoted (5) on the inner section. It is moved by a link (9) from a rod on a positioning piston (8) in a cylinder (7) within the inner section (2). Pressure points (16,17) on opposite sides of the nose cone are connected to the two sides (12,13) of the cylinder. The cone is turned to keep the flow past it symmetrical at all velocities.
