Soln. of pure tri:ethylene-di:amine in 1,4-butane-di:ol - obtd. by adding butane di:ol to crude aq. soln. of the amine, distilling to remove water, then distilling bottoms prod.
Soln. of pure tri:ethylene-di:amine in 1,4-butane-di:ol - obtd. by adding butane di:ol to crude aq. soln. of the amine, distilling to remove water, then distilling bottoms prod.
Crude aq. triethylenediamine (I) reacting prod. mixt. (obtd. from a liq. phase process for the prepn. of I) is mixed with 1,4-butanediol and the soln. is heated so that water and other lower boiling impurities are removed. The resultant bottoms are then heated to produce a codistillate of pure (I) as a solute in liq. 1,4-butanediol soln. Pure (I) is recovered directly from a crude aq. reaction mixt., and the resulting liq. soln. can be used directly to catalyse urethane systems contg. isocyanates and polyols.
