The microphone assembly is mounted on the top of the camera with the open end of the pivoted tube (4) pointing at the subject. The microphone (6) pulls out of the open end and can be angled in different directions as well as extended. The microphone assembly does not take up any space inside the camera and is designed to fit into the camera contours. Moulded tags in the camera case locate the pivot pins for the tube while ratchet teeth secure the different angular positions. The ratchet can be replaced by a friction roller which holds the bottom end of the microphone head when it is pushed into the tube.
