The reduction gear has a pinion, firmly mounted on a drive shaft, meshing with a toothed hollow wheel on the gear output side. An inner bearing is provided for the drive shaft, while the hollow wheel is mounted in an outer bearing,eccentric to the inner one. An eccentric bearing support has an inner bearing aperture for the inner bearing, while the outer bearing is supported by its outer bearing surface. Pref. the eccentric bearing support is mounted on a carrier plate, whose periphery carries spaced long strips of the housing cage. The strip ends are each firmly connected to a support ring for mounting the housing cage on the alternator, or the engine.
