The method of non-gravimetric rapid precision measurement is for the diffusion resistance factors of solids and does not involve the use of a precision balance and can accomodate considerably larger test surfaces than can gravimetric test methods. A control measurement chamber (B), pref. of octagonal shape, is sealed at both ends with similar material samples (5,6) of exactly equal surface areas forming hermetic seals. This enables the equilibrium moisture level between the moisture and drying chambers to be not only measured but also disturbed by introducing a very small quantity of water or steam. The diffusion resistance factors of the dry and moist regions are determined from the half-value times of the disturbance recovery using precalculated multiple column tables whose starting points from the possible equilibrium moisture percentage levels.
