Bucket wheel excavator for hard rock penetration - has centrally facing tips on cutting chisels on cutting wheel

Bucket rims are armed with excavating tools, on buckets fitted to a driven freely suspended bucket wheel on an excavator. The wheel is in the form of a cutting wheel. The tools are shaped as cutting chisels (4), with tips (5) pointing towards the centre of the wheel. They may be round chisels, rotatably mounted in tool-holders (7) with accommodating holes (8) facing the wheel centre. Loading teeth may be set between holders, combining with them to form a closed loading edge. Complete tool holder rims may be welded onto the bucket rims. The system provides simple and economical conversion of a bucket wheel excavator for penetrating hardrock and loosening material for removal.
