The autotransformer for high rated voltages and currents, has series (R), parallel (P) and tertiary (T) windings, wound on three iron cores (A,B,C) in parallel, with connecting conductors across the ends. These are used to connect the series and parallel windings in parallel with those on an adjacent core. They are insulated from axial screening rings in the windings. The connecting conductors are wedged between the windings at these end faces, and their insulation is formed by part of the edge insulation of the adjacent windings. The output connections which are symmetrical with the middle connections at a common end are connected to a common vertical line. The conductors are resilient, being of enamelled strands, flat cables or twisted strands.
