Almost any terrain, such as a sloping bank or an unfavourable substructure, is suitable as a base for stairs made from prefab. components, esp. of reinforced concrete, assembled on site. Support piles (3.1), providing frost-free foundations, have a transverse beam (3.2) at one end, and a cutout (3.4) in a central part. Steps (1.1) resting on the beams have a laterally fitted mounting bracket (1.2) narrower than the cutout, protruding into the cutout of the next pile and joined to it with mortar, site concrete or wedging. The sides of the steps may be of unequal length, and they can be block-shaped, angular, or of other types.
