The feed assembly of the dish grinder handling coal, ore, grain or similar materials, consists of a hopper (1) with a slide gate (5) on its lower tapered end (11). The outlet end of the slide gate carries a feed tube (4) which extends into the casing (62) of the grinder and terminates with a diverging cross section feed outlet (7) closely above the grinding table (60). The tube can be fitted either with a telescopic device (8) allowing height adjustment of the outlet opening (41), or it can be fitted to the hopper via a length of flexible hose, allowing deviation of the tube from the exact vertical axis.
