Control system for glider launching appts. - compare actual and nominal cable tension values to control cable winch driving motor

The launch appts. for a glider (1) includes an internal combustion engine (3) controlling a winch (4) for the towing cable (2). The cable also passes through a force measuring system (5) after leaving the winch, which generates signals corresponding to the tension in the cable, for an actual value/nominal value equalising unit (6). This receives signals from a nominal value device (7) which monitors the angle of the cable. The values are established before the launching operation, and then take into account the length of the cable and are used to control an actuator (10) which regulates the fuel supply valve (8) for the engine so as to control the cable unwinding speed.
