The rotor has concentric inner and outer cylindrical surfaces (1,5) each pref. of fibre reinforced polyester and each provided with a respective number of rotor blades for using an axial current. The inner cylindrical surface (5) is extended symmetrically on both sides and has an overall length of about one fifth the rotor dia. Its inner dia. is sufficient to allow the associated transmission gear to be inserted axially inside the inner cylindrical surface (5). Pref. the inner cylindrical surface (5) has a steel flange (13) on either side, with steel wires (3) extending between the outer cylindrical surface (1) and the two flanges (13). The rotor can be taken apart for transport and assembled at the utilisation point.
