The rear of the propeller shaft (19) is held by two struts, with one strut (13) on a pivot mounting (16) in the hull and the other strut linked to a vertical slider (17) to raise the propeller shaft. As the shaft is raised the other strut pivots and swings the shaft upwards and outwards to park the screw (8) inside a contoured cut-out in the rear hull. The system allows the use of large slow running screws for maximum efficiency with diesel engined boats. The docking system ensures that the screw is not damaged when running into shallow water.
