The arrangement is intended for saving engine fuel (e.g. in a speed boat engine in which a reduction of 10% below maximum engine speed may save 50% in fuel consumption whilst boat speed only drops by 8%). A spring-loaded (1) stop, for the throttle lever, permits placing this lever in the full throttle position (B) when required and returns it to the fuel save position (A) when the lever is released. This position (A) may be adjustable (3) and may be set at 90% of maximum engine speed. Instead of a spring, an automatic mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic or electric control may be used.
