摘要
A thermally insulated building comprises load bearing outer walls (26), with insulation (28) on their external faces, covered by a facing or rendering (32). The cavity between the load bearing wall and the insulation contains inlet and outlet ducts (1,2) for the ventilation system. Arrangement utilizes the heat available in the building to the optimum and reduces heat losses. In a simple embodiment the cavity between the two parts of the wall is subdivided by vertical lathes, and the incoming and outgoing air ducts alternate. More specifically, the insulation layer may be of polystyrene foam. Foam thicknesses of 50-250 mm are specified for use in combination with various materials in the load-bearing wall.
