The protective jacket is in the form of a bag-like cover (1) which is open at the bottom so that it can be drawn over the head and body. Near the top the closed upper end is semi-circular to fit neatly over the head and at the front at the top there is a non-inflammable heat-insulating visor panel (4). The cover can be designed with extra-long sleeves (5) which are sealed at the ends and the head end can be reinforced (2). This jacket cover is economical to manufacture and can be kept readily available in hotel rooms, offices etc.
