The rotary cutter (21) for a Woodchipping machine uses a blade which is clamped into a slot in the cutter and which can be removed for sharpening. This blade can be made from a number of flat sections which can be welded together. Each section can be L-shaped in cross section with a small piece projecting from a large piece, forming the body and cutting edge respectively. When the sections are welded together the parts which are joined are the parts which are clamped in the cutter. In these parts are countersunk holes (9) each with a portion (12) cut away to form a slot to hold a spring-loaded adjusting screw.
