Fibre layer separator remove aerosols and vapours - of low boiling hydrocarbon(s) by addn. of high boiling hydrocarbon(s)

Waste air from industrial processes contg. aerosols and vapour mixts. of low-boiling hydrocarbons is treated by sepn. on fibre layer separators. Simultaneously with the air, a higher-boiling absorption liq. is also applied to the fibre layers. In a variant, the liq. phase of the aerosols which are to be separated is used as this absorption liq. The absorption liq. may be regenerated by vacuum distillation. In particular in the plastics processing industry, where hydrocarbon mixts. are given off in the waste air and cannot normally be sepd. by fibre layer separators. It is found, that by applying a higher-boiling hydrocarbon, the lower-boiling hydrocarbons may also be sepd. The regeneration process is comparatively easy, since the lower-boiling hydrocarbons can be distilled at temps. of 30-100 deg. C and comparatively low vacuum.
